Most people find medical jobs highly lucrative. However, what prevents most of them from pursuing careers in the medical field is strict and exhaustive educational qualifications. Besides, the education is highly expensive and very time-consuming. Average students do not have the resources or patience to complete the requirements. However, when we talk of strict educational requirements and expense of education, we are essentially talking about careers of physicians and nurses. The truth is that medical field offers myriad opportunities in other areas without the need to undergo four years of degree course. Besides, these jobs are equally in demand and pay decently.

According to the survey of Bureau of Labor Statistics, health care field claims 6 out of 30 fastest growing careers. In spite of economic meltdown, health care industry has maintained a steady growth rate. Apart from traditional careers of doctors and nurses, it has also opened avenues to some lesser known careers.
Job Description
Registered Nurses Nurses form the largest workforce in the health care industry with a growth rate of 22.2%. Currently, there are 2 million nursing professionals in the country and this number is expected to increase by the end of 2016. One can become a registered nurse after completing a four-year degree course in Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or a two year associates degree and a certification in nursing specialty.
Home Aides This is by far the most expanding career in the medical field, with a whopping growth rate of 50%. The increase in demand for home aides can be attributed to the large number of elderly population that requires constant care and attention. As this career does not require a college degree, it is one of the most sought after careers.
Medical Assistants This is yet another emerging career option in the health care industry. It has a growth rate of over 33% and is expected to show even more rise in the coming years. Medical assistants assist nurses and physicians with basic patient care. They may also undertake administrative work, billing and scheduling appointments. They may work in large hospitals or private clinics.
Paramedics Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are always in demand due to their action packed nature of work. They are skilled in giving primary patient care, resuscitation and handling traumatic conditions. They are often the first to report on an accident or disaster site. They do not have fixed working hours and must report on duty whenever summoned.
Physicians This is the most promising career in medical field which also happens to be amongst the highest paid careers in the country. Physicians can work with hospitals or may be self employed. Their remuneration depends upon the facility in which they work and their area of expertise.
Technicians Medical field also opens doors to many technical jobs. In technical field Ultrasound, X-ray and MRI, dialysis etc. are some medical specialties in demand. Technical jobs demand at least a two year associates degree and a certification in concerned area. Some technical jobs also demand only a high school diploma and a vocational training.
Dental Hygienist Dental hygienist deals with basic dental care. He educates people about proper dental hygiene and care. Usually, they work in a dentist's office or in collaboration with private clinics. They earn a decent income and work in flexible hours.
