If you have just given an interview, then it is important that you send out a follow-up letter. The sample given in this article will help you understand why such a letter is necessary and how it needs to be drafted.
After any interview, once the nervousness that comes with the process subsides, you should focus your attention on writing a follow-up letter, thanking your interviewer. This may not seem necessary but it is a fact that most interviewers will expect a follow-up letter, thanking them for giving you a chance. Any letter sample will tell you that it is important that such a letter be sent as soon as possible. You cannot wait for a couple of weeks to send out the letter. This will just seem like an afterthought of sorts. Send in your letter within twenty four hours of having given the interview. A follow-up letter is also a great way of reinforcing why you would be the best person for the job. In every formal letter writing exercise, the basic format remains more or less the same. This remains true for follow-up letters as well. A formal letter will always include details like the writer’s name and address, the addressee’s name and address, the subject of the letter, and obviously, the content. The content of a letter and an email is more or less the same. The difference that you will notice is that the former does not include details like the address. The other difference is that in an email, the subject will be included in the subject line that is demarcated by the email service provider.
In the first paragraph, thank the addressee for giving you the opportunity of interviewing for the position concerned. Do specify both the position and the name of the organization.
In the second paragraph, ensure that you mention how you believe that you would be perfect for the position. Also mention that your interview has reinforced this belief in you.
In the last paragraph, mention how you are looking forward to hearing from the addressee about the decision that they make. It is important that you remember to give your contact details in case they need to get in touch with you for any clarification.
