In most cases, by the end of an interview, we are told that we would hear from the organization on a particular date. However, the date comes and goes, but nothing happens. In such situations, the best way to remind the organization, or to know the status of their decision-making process, is to send them a follow-up or thank you letter. Sending follow-up letters is a great way to express appreciation and thanks to the employer for the conducted interview. The main purpose of this follow-up thank you letter after an interview is to reiterate your interest in the position and the organization. Besides this, by sending an interview follow-up letter, you can also remind the employer about your qualifications or achievements that fit best for the job position you have applied for. In case you forgot to mention or ask something during the interview, you can do that in this letter.

The letter can either be handwritten, hard copy typed, or emailed. For a more formal or professional approach, one can send a hard copy of the follow-up letter, while to add a more personal touch, hand written letter can be a good option. You can also send the letter through mail if you have the means of contact, i.e., the employer's e-mail id.
