Preparing for an interview means practicing your answers ahead of time. That’s especially important if you’re heading into an agile interview. You’ll want to focus on studying the common agile interview questions so that you’re prepared for what the hiring manager might want to know about your agile experience.

Interviews are made especially hard given the pressure you’re under to put your best foot forward. You can make it easier on yourself by taking a look at the usual questions and preparing your answers in advance. In fact, many interviewees find it easier to write out their answers, so they know what to say ahead of time.

When it comes to agile methodology, especially when heading into a technical role, having your answers prepared can help you get the role. Here are examples of ones you need to prepare for.

How is Agile different than the Waterfall methodology process?

Agile and Waterfall methodologies are two different ways of testing and developing software or other products. It’s important to know the difference between the two and explain them when asked. This is one of the most common questions you’re likely to get during the interview process.

What’s important to know is that the waterfall process tests everything at the end of the development timeline with the stakeholders. The agile process is tested throughout and not shown to stakeholders until the kinks are worked out.

But, learning more about what each means can really help you throughout your interview process.

What are the principles of Agile testing?

Now that you know how agile testing works, you’ll need to better understand the process’s principles. Agile was developed around several principles, with the highest priority being customer satisfaction.

From there, other principles include working collaboratively across teams, focusing on documentation, and sustainability.

Knowing the key principles is helpful, heading into any interview.

Explain the pros and cons of an Agile Process.

Like with any process, Agile comes with its own set of pros and cons. Why does it work for some teams and not others? How can it be detrimental to a product cycle? What do you need to keep in mind when it comes to keeping a cycle on track?

Write down your pros and cons using your own experience as an example. Ahead of your interview, go over them with a friend and include your examples. It’s a great way to showcase both your experience and your knowledge of agile.

How many burn-down chart types are there, and what do they do?

According to Indeed, burn-down charts are an essential area to know about when interviewing for an agile position. You’ll need to know the phases of agile testing, what a sprint is, and of course, the core principles.

There are four types of burn-down charts, and you’ll need to know what each one is and how they work. Come prepared to talk through them, and don’t be afraid to show off your knowledge.

Preparing for an interview is about getting your answers ready and knowing what you want to showcase. From your experience to your personality, you want to put your full self in the spotlight. Knowing the answers to these agile interview questions ahead of time will help you succeed and land that dream job.
